We Chose Each Other — And We Still Do ❤️

I was 22 years old when people told us we shouldn’t get married.
They said it gently sometimes… and cruelly other times.
They said we wouldn’t manage.
They said it wouldn’t last. 💔

Today, Paul and I have been together for 27 years ❤️

We both have Down syndrome, and many believed that meant we couldn’t handle responsibility, commitment, or a lasting marriage. Some even said we wouldn’t make it a year.

But we got married anyway 💍
Not to prove anyone wrong — but because we loved each other.

We learned life together.
How to care for our health.
How to take care of our home. How to show up for one another on good days and hard ones 🤍

We argued sometimes.
We laughed a lot.
We grew — slowly, honestly, side by side.

After 25 years, we renewed our vows 💐
Not for applause.
Not for approval. But because, after all that time, we still chose each other.

People doubted us.
But we built a real home.
A real life.
And a marriage that still holds ✨

Love doesn’t need permission.
Commitment doesn’t need perfection.
And belief — when it’s lived every day — becomes proof all on its own.
